Hi!
The name CachyOS is mainly coming from the Cachy Scheduler (https://www.phoronix.com/news/Cachy-Linux-Scheduler), the previous one of the cacULE (https://github.com/hamadmarri/cacule-cpu-scheduler) scheduler.
In 2021 Hamad (https://github.com/hamadmarri) and me considered to create a optimized distribution and thought about the naming.
I tested and worked together with hamad on the cacule scheduler at this time.
Since to this time the cacULE Scheduler was our default used scheduler, we just took then the name of his previous scheduler.
The idea of the optimized repos, came when we found a RFC that archlinux wanted to introduce this. Since it was known, that this wont happen fastly we started to do it.
First the building of the packages was a simple script, further this would improved to a automatic rebuilder, which checks and compares our build packages against the archlinux packages.
Our packages gets a .1 pkgver more, to be “newer” compared to the archlinux ones, so that the compare is easier and is working better.
Feel free to ask further! I hope I explained it everything.
